My 10 years, Border Collie has severe arthritis in their hips and legs back and knees. It has been for some time Duramax. It seemed to help for a while, but no longer. The vet put him on Metacam now. Have you noticed an improvement with arthritis in their dogs after the passage of drugs? Did they build a tolerance to the Mediterranean Sea? I Feel So Bad is in our hands. Any tips?

Rimadyl, Metacam, Deramaxx Previcox and are all in the same class of drugs - NSAIDs are formulated for dogs (and in the case of Metcam, cats also). NSAID use leads to tolerance and dependence with effective painkillers (Tramadol, associated, etc.) and helps reduce the inflammation of arthritic joints, it is an ideal drug for use in long term for arthritis.
Although NSAIDs are all from the same class, it appears that some dogs do better with one drug or another, switching drugs may have a good strategy if the dog is still struggling with the pain - something like Advil works best for People who Tylenol. Rimadyl has been a generic name (or Vetprofen NOVOX), it can help it at the price - the rest is, as far as I know, let alone brand.
NSAIDs are an important part of the management of arthritis, but because it is a degenerative disease, there are other things you can do to help your dog feel comfortable and the progression of the disease - the supplements glucosamine to lubricate joints to help and I deeplyEffects of physical activity (running, swimming) will help the muscles and increase blood flow to the affected joints. Glucosamine comes in different forms - Chewable (Phycox, Cosequin, synovial fluid are, etc.), the most common form, and lasts about 4-6 weeks to develop their full effect. There are also contributions of glucosamine (balance) that can cause an immediate effect, although they are generally quite expensive.
A final note on NSAIDs - although rare, are problems associated with the liver, it is important that the blood in your dog regularly () to check every 3-6 months to ensure that drugs do not do liver disease or not.
